Peshawar, Quetta match ends in draw
PESHAWAR, Oct 15: Peshawar and Quetta regions' match ended in a draw on the third day of the three-day Inter-region under-19 cricket tournament at Abbottabad Stadium on Friday.
Peshawar who were put to bat by Quetta skipper after he won the toss, set up a handsome total of 380 runs with the help of excellent batting by middle order batsmen Riaz Kail, Tariq Khan, Fawad Khan and Nawaz Ahmed.
Riaz Kail cracked 80 runs off 122 balls with 12 boundaries and a six, Tariq 54 off 83 balls laced with five boundaries and two sixes, Fawad 51 off 22 balls with six mighty sixes and two boundaries and Nawaz Khan hit up 49. He faced 76 balls and struck five boundaries.
Asif Khan not out on 18 and Johar Husain (250), Naveed Afridi (30) and Nasir Ahmed (29) were the other prominent scorers. For Quetta right-arm medium fast bowler Sher Hussain claimed four wickets, Gohar Ahmed and Umar Ajmal picked two each and Waseem Qutab got one wicket.
Quetta in their first innings were bowled out for 149 after playing 55.2 overs. Only opener Abdul Majeed (38), Ahmed Wali (23) and Hassanain Ali not out on 30 were major runs takers.
For Peshawar Hidayatullah took three wickets, Asif Khan and Tariq Khan got two wickets each and Nasir Ahmed, Azam Khan and Nawaz Ahmed got one wicket each. Quetta in its second innings scored 144 runs for the loss of eight wickets when the two umpires called off the match due to heavy rain and wet outfield.
For Peshawar Hidayatullah who also got three wickets in the first innings, grabbed four wickets to complete his seven wickets tally while Tariq took two in the first innings and three in the second innings to complete five wickets in the match. -APP
