LAHORE, Oct 15: The chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC), Agha Shaukat, has said that he had postponed the agitation programme against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being assured that all demands of the council would be met.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, the World Sight Day, on which the council had planned to stage a protest, Shaukat disclosed that PCB chairman Shaharyar M. Khan rang him and responded positively and he decided to postpone the protest.

The council has been demanding the PCB to take the council under its control and issue an annual grant. Shaukat said that Shaharyar asked him to meet him on conclusion of the ongoing three-nation tournament to discuss matters in detail.

He said that it would be the last meeting and after it the council would destroy all trophies and World Cup it had won. He pointed out that the council owed Rs1million and now it had to participate in the first Asia Cup to be held in Sharjah in November this year.

He said that the Asian Blind Cricket Council would also hold a meeting at Sharjah to discuss ways to promote blind cricket in Nepal and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, in a related development PCB has announced a grant of Rs200,000 for the PBCC.

"PCB takes great pleasure in announcing a grant of Rs200,000 for the PBCC on the occasion of the World Sight Day. "PCB would like to reaffirm its continued support for the council in this noble cause. "So far PCB has contributed a total of Rs2.1 million to the association by way of financial support during the last three years," a PCB press release stated.
