NEW YORK, Oct 15: Four of top six seeds have advanced into the semifinals of Berkshire Squash Open at Williams College in Williamstown, a new event for US Professional Squash Association Tour.

Borja Golan, Spanish favourite and top-seed, will square off against England's Bradley Bell, seeded third, in one semifinal match while the other semifinal will pit Laurens Jan-Anjema, second seed from the Netherlands, against sixth-seeded Liam Kenny of Ireland.

The quarterfinals, held Thursday night, spelled end of the tournament for four unseeded players who worked their way into main draw through a qualifier held on Sunday and Monday.

Daryl Selby of England, Kumail Mehmood of Pakistan and Niall Rooney of Ireland all advanced past first round and into quarterfinals of the tournament by beating seeded foes.

John Russell won his first round match after his opponent Patrick Bedore of Canada, was disqualified for his behaviour in arguing disputed let calls, according to event spokesman Chris Tom.

"Bedore continued to berate the referee and unleashed a series of profanities in front of the crowd," Tom said. "Deeming his behaviour unacceptable, the tournament organizers disqualified Bedore and gave Russell an abbreviated win." -PPI
