Security irks fans

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Oct 14: Strict security arrangements deprived thousands of fans from watching the Pakistan-Sri Lanka match of tri-nation tournament at the Qadhafi Stadium on Thursday.

As a security step, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had decided not to sell tickets at any booth of the stadium on the match day. The decision was taken to allow only ticket holders in the Nishter Park where the stadium is located.

But, surprisingly thousand of fans entered Nishter Park without tickets which shows the failure of law enforcing agencies. However, the fans were disappointed when they found no booth at the stadium.

Some black-marketers took advantage of the situation and sold their tickets on high rates. Major portion of every stand remained empty.

The PCB authorities are worried about the situation and they are expecting very thin crowd on Saturday for the final because Ramazan will begin.
