Four players advance

PESHAWAR, Oct 12: Four players advanced to main qualifiers after securing victories in the pre-qualifying rounds of the CAS International squash championship, commencing from Oct 14 at PAF Squash Complex.

The US$25000 CAS International Championship has attracted 10 foreign players from England, France, Kuwait, Ireland, Malaysia, and Egypt with Manzoor Zaman, the last time runners-up and having 22nd world ranking, the top seed of the championship.

Mansoor Zaman, On Beng Hee, Mohammad Azlan Iskandar (Malaysia), Shahid Zaman, Hisham Mohammad Ashour, A. Hafiz, Mohammad Essam (Egypt), Ben Garner (England), Farrukh Zaman, Majid Khan, Jean Michel Arsucci (France), Saeed Hassan and Farhan Mehboob have been given direct entry.

Those who got qualification after securing victories in the pre-qualifying matches are Bilal Zaman who defeated Majeed Hasham in straight sets 11-7, 11-6, 12-10; Aamir Atlas defeated Amjad Khan 11-9, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, Asghar Khan downed Haider Jamal11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9; Adil Atlas beat Waqar Mehboob 11-6, 11-7 and 11-5.

Those foreigners player who have to play the main qualifying round are Arthur Gaskin (Ireland), Bader Al Hussaini (Kuwait), Amr Ramzy Swelim, El Iraky Omar Abdel Aziz (Egypt). -APP
