KARACHI, Oct 12: The London-based founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, on Tuesday demanded of the president and the prime minister to provide relief to those who were cheated by the cooperative companies in Sindh.
In a statement, Mr Hussain sought their immediate attention to the plight of the victims of the financial scam in Sindh, as was done in the case of Punjab, where the government had distributed Rs3.24 billion among those who had been cheated by cooperative companies.
He said in Sindh those cheated by investment companies including Taj Company and the Alliance Motors were still waiting for compensation. He noted that some big fishes involved in the scam had not been arrested as yet despite the fact they had deprived the people of billions of rupees.
He asked the government why there was a double standard in providing relief to the victims and called for serious effort for removing this perception by compensating the people adequately.
