ILO mission arrives

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11: A two-member mission of the International Labour Organization (ILO) arrived here on Monday to assess the situation of bonded labour in the country and the projects the ILO had started for its elimination.

Bonded labour eradication experts Caroline Oreilly and Julian Purr will also be meeting representatives of labourers, employers, non-governmental organizations and human rights bodies during their week-long stay.

The experts will also meet the federal secretary of labour and a number of other government officials and assess the pace of implementation of national policy and plan of action.

It is worth mentioning here that the ILO's global report, considered to be an internationally recognized barometer of state of labour rights, would be released in the organization's next session.
