LARKANA: Three SHOs summoned by court

LARKANA, Oct 11: The sessions court has ordered the SHOs of Shahdadkot, Sujawal and Sanjar Bhatti to appear in the court on Tuesday in connection with a petition alleging police harassment.

Habibullah Ghouri, the council for the petitioner, Qamruddin Chandio, told the court on Monday that the staff of the three police stations had been raiding petitioner's house and detaining his family members.

The petitioner said that police had targeted them for their alleged connections with a bandit, Malook alias Wihoon. He said that Malook belonged to their community but they had no relation with him.

Police off and on conducted raids on their houses, picked up members of Mr Chandio's family including women and children and release them after detaining them at a police station for a night, the advocate said.

Malook and the petitioner had been at daggers drawn as the bandit had killed his father and brother, he added. The court also sought reply from the DPO (operation) and the DPO (investigation) in this connection.

WOAMN KILLED: A man, Sharbat Magsi, shot his wife dead on the charge of karo-kari in a village near Qubo Saeed Khan and escaped. He is the resident of Kandri village from where he brought his wife, whose name could not be ascertained, to his relatives' house in Kot Magsi village and killed her. The father of the deceased has lodged a murder case against Sharbat with the Jhal Magsi police.

PROTEST: Students of the Chandka Medical College staged a sit-in at the college gate here on Monday to protest against problems they faced in the hostels. Amjad Mastoi, Jamil Gabol and others led the protest which disturbed vehicular traffic for some time.
