Call for observing black day tomorrow

Published October 11, 2004

HYDERABAD, Oct 10: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's exiled leader Nawaz Sharif has said that the country has been recolonized by the US and UK.

Talking to the Sindh president of the party's labour wing, Mr Afzal Gujjar, on telephone from Jeddah on Sunday, he called upon the people of Pakistan to observe Oct 12 as a black day.

He said the murder of democracy and overthrow of a democratic government on the day in 1999 would be the darkest chapter in the country's history. The former prime minister said the government had failed on political and economic fronts and it could not provide justice to people.

He said the government was following the policy of divide and rule and had pitted provinces against each other. He assured the party workers that he would soon return to home as the days of the illegitimate government were over.

Meanwhile, a member of the party's Sindh council, Mr Sultan Shaikh advocate, in a statement issued here on Sunday also claimed that Nawaz Sharif also talked to him on telephone and assured that he would return to country very soon.
