ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: The Yemeni Shoora Council and the Senate of Pakistan have signed a protocol on mutual cooperation, a press release issued here on Saturday said.

The protocol was signed by Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro and Yemeni Shoora Council Speaker Abdul Aziz Ghani.

The press release said the protocol was aimed at strengthening the existing brotherly relations between the two countries in various fields, besides enhancing coordination and cooperation between the Yemeni Shoora Council and the Upper House of Pakistan's parliament.

Under the protocol, the two houses have decided to establish a friendship group in each house which will identify and promote cooperation between the houses in order to strengthen the fraternal ties between the two countries.

An agreement was also reached on the exchange of documents, periodicals and the visit of parliamentary delegations.

The two houses have also agreed to look at the possibility of organizing joint forums on matters and issues of mutual interest.

It was further decided that the two houses will strengthen coordination and hold consultations during international conferences.

Abdul Aziz Ghani, currently leading a Yemeni parliamentary delegation, is a recognized policy planner, an enlightened political economist and a renowned politician.

The invitation to Yemeni leader to visit Pakistan was extended Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro.

Earlier, the nine-member Yemeni delegation called on National Assembly Acting Speaker Sardar Mohammad Yaqub here on Friday.

The National Assembly acting speaker emphasized the need for close cooperation among the parliamentarians of Muslim countries in order to face the modern day challenges. Parliamentarians in the Muslim countries can play a vital role in guiding the people on all important issues, he added.
