HYDERABAD: SHC issues notice to nazims

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Oct 9: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, has directed the nazims of Qasimabad taluka and a union council to appear in the court on October 14.

The court also appointed the additional registrar of the court as commissioner to visit the Gulistan-i-Sajjad and see whether its houses had been surrounded by drain water accumulated there due to establishment of a hotel on drainage line by the taluka nazim.

The order was passed on a petition filed by Noor-ul-Haque Qureshi advocate who alleged that the taluka nazim, Noor Mohammad Shoro, had encroached upon a sewerage line and established a hotel there which was being run by UC Nazim Khaliq Chandio.

Additional registrar Ghulam Mustafa Channa Channa was asked to submit report on October 14 after collecting facts regarding problems of 16,000 residents who were said to have no access to their houses because of stagnant filthy water.

The petitioner personally argued the case against the taluka nazim, secretary of town planning, DCO, district nazim, director-general of the HDA, managing director of Wasa and director of planning and development, Hyderabad.
