ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has issued the final list of candidates for its election scheduled to be held on October 23. The list was issued by the SCBA president, Tariq Mehmood, who is also the returning officer.
According to the list, this year the association president will be from the NWFP. Three candidates - Mohammad Zahoor Qureshi, Qazi Mohammad Jamil and Saeed Baig - will contest for the office of SCBA president.
Mohammad Aziz Malik and Abdul Latif Yousafzai from Sindh and NWFP, respectively, have been declared vice-presidents unopposed. Three candidates - Anwar Hamid Sahibzada, Mohammad Anwar Sipra and Nazeer Ahmed - will contest the election for the post of vice-president from the Punjab.
Mohammad Ashraf Khan Tanoli and Syed Ayaz Zahoor will fight for the slot of vice-president from Balochistan. Abdul Sadiq Chaudhry, Chaudhry Ali Mohammad and Nawab Saeedullah Khan will contest for the post of association's secretary.
Abdul Ghafoor Raja, Sadaqat Ali Mirza and Syed Rafaqat Hussain Shah will be in the run for the post of SCBA additional secretary. Arshed Ali Chaudhry, Mehmood Ahmad Sheikh and Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta will fight for the slot of finance secretary. Three candidates each from Balochistan, NWFP and Sindh, and six candidates from the Punjab will contest the election for the posts of executive members.
The candidates are: Mohammad Zahid Muqeem Ansari, Mushtaq Ahmed Anjum and Sheikh Ghulam Ahmed from Baluchistan; Malik Manzoor Hussain, Mohammad Bashir Khattak and Roohul Amin from NWFP; Mohammad Sohail Hayat Khan Rana, Sheikh Faqir Mohammad Javaid and Syed Jamil Ahmed from Sindh; and Abdul Haq Malik, Abdul Rehman Madni, Ajmal Kamal Mirza, Amanat Ali Bokhari, Kamil Hussain Naqvi and Mohammad Imtiaz Mahl from the Punjab.
Filing of objections over election will be allowed on October 28, while hearing and decisions on objections and official counting will be made on October 30. Similarly, final notification of results will be issued on the same day. -APP
