KARACHI: Two policemen, worker shot dead by robbers

KARACHI, Oct 6: Three persons, including two policemen and a bakery worker, were killed in a dacoity in Kharadar on Wednesday evening.
Police said three suspects came to Iqra Bakery located on Nawab Mohabat Khan Road near Imambargah Husainian Iranian. One of the suspects entered the bakery and demanded cash.
Sher Zaman, a bakery worker, offered resistance, on which the suspect opened fire on him, and fled. Hearing gunshots, police constable Khadim Husain, 35, who was performing duty at Imambargah Husainian Iranian rushed to the spot and got hold of the fleeing suspect. However, before he could overpower him, the suspect shot him in the face and fled.
The bullet hit the policeman in his face and pierced thorough his head, causing his instant death. At a short distance, a police constable, Wali Rehman, who was rushing towards the bakery was also shot at by the fleeing bandits.
Bakery worker Sher Zaman was rushed to Civil Hospital by his co-workers where he died while being provided medical aid. Both the policemen were also taken to Civil Hospital, but were pronounced dead on arrival.
A senior police official said the two policemen did not open fire fearing that they might hit some pedestrians as the place remains overcrowded, especially in the evening.
KILLED: A watchman was shot dead by armed suspects in Korangi early Wednesday morning. Police said Hazar Khan Bugti, 28, a watchman was performing his duty at a plot when three armed men came and opened fire on him.
Police said that young man died on the spot. His body was shifted to JPMC. Police said that victim's younger brother lodged an FIR nominating some persons. Police suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.
ACCIDENTS: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents on Wednesday. Police said Anwer Khalid, 24, was on his motorcycle near Clifton police station when a speeding truck hit him.
The victim died on the spot. His body was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities. Police claimed to have nabbed the errant driver. In another accident, a 70-year-old man died in a hit and run accident near Kalapul.
Police said Kalay Khan was crossing the main Korangi Road when an unknown vehicle knocked him down. He was taken to JPMC where he was pronounced dead.
