Call to raise productivity of SMEs

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5: Steps should be taken to improve manpower for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector with a view to achieving enhanced productivity and meeting competition.

This was stated by the newly appointed president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Tariq Sadiq, in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He said the SMEs sector had over 65 per cent share in Pakistan's economy and was a vital source of employment, but its efficiency and productivity were far from being satisfactory.

The president said the industrial zone of Islamabad and the proposed new industrial estate for the business community of the capital would need ICCI's special attention to achieve higher production, quality control and upgradation of skills.
