LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 5: A three-day anti-polio campaign was launched here on Tuesday after the district health department convinced ulema to participate in the drive against the crippling disease.

It was also assisted by Unicef as well as students, social workers, elected representatives and journalists at the local level. In this connection, EDO (health) Dr Mohammad Iqbal arranged a programme in his office, where participants highlighted the importance of the polio eradication campaign.

Among others, WHO's consultant for the NWFP Dr Hamdi Ahmad Mohammad Abdul Ghaffar Almisri also participated in the programme. On this occasion, Dr Iqbal stressed the participants to cooperate with the polio teams to make the drive a success.
