More Russian wheat import opposed

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5: Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has demanded of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to intervene and stop forthwith the proposed import of more Russian wheat, which they described as of 'substandard quality'.
The PFMA in a statement issued to media here on Tuesday asked the prime minister for carrying out investigation into the matter to stop the import of 'substandard wheat'.
The Central Chairman PFMA, Abdul Ali Kakar said that the wheat already imported from Russia was 'blackish and red' and its taste was also not good. He said that the Russian wheat contained 13.5 per cent moisture, which he said, was higher than the normal ratio.
He criticised the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and ministry of food, agriculture and livestock (MINFAL) for allowing import of the 'substandard wheat' from Russia, which caused huge loss to the national kitty.
