LAHORE, Oct 4: The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) will stage a demonstration on World Blind Day falling on Oct 15 to protest against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the government for discrimination towards the council.
PBCC chairman Agha Shaukat Ali, said on Monday that Pakistan were world champions in Blind cricket and had been apprising the PBC and the government about its financial problems for the last four years, but no action was taken so far to solve them.
He added that president of Pakistan also advised the PCB on Jan 15, 2003 to take PBCC under its control and allocate annual grant but nothing was done in this connection.
The chairman said that president of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf had also failed to fulfil his promise of awarding cash prizes of Rs 100,000 for each member of the team as announced on March 25, 2004, for beating India in the home series this year.
He said that if promises were not fulfilled by Oct 15, the blind cricketers attired in official uniform and with the World Cup and other trophies would demonstrate at the Mall.
