Rs14.18bn target for rabi credit

ISLAMABAD, Oct 4: The Zari Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has set a target of Rs14.180 billion for disbursement as rabi credit to farmers under its one-window operation at reduced mark-up of nine per cent.

The reduction in the mark-up has already been notified by the ZTBL in pursuance of President Musharraf's agricultural package and the bank has now started disbursement of loan for rabi crops throughout the country, bank officials said.

In order to fulfil credit requirements of small farmers for the season, the officials said, the bank was disbursing production loans under the one-window scheme in coordination with respective provincial governments.

Under the scheme, representative of Post Office, Revenue Officials and Mobile Credit Officers (MCOs) of the ZTBL will be present at focal points at teshil level on every Monday and Tuesday to complete formalities at one place and sanction loans on the spot.

The scheme will primarily remain operative till Jan 11, 2005, but is extendable in areas having further demand. -APP
