LANDI KOTAL: Press club opens in Landi Kotal

By Our Correspondent

LANDI KOTAL, Oct 3: Khyber Agency MNA Allama Noorul Haq Qadri inaugurated the press club here on Sunday. The one-room club has been set up in a commercial building in the Landi Kotal bazaar. Local journalists would bear its expenses.

Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah while inaugurating the Mohmand Press Club at Ghalanai early this year had announced establishing fully-equipped press clubs in the tehsil headquarters in the seven tribal agencies.

The government has yet to initiate construction work of the proposed press club for Khyber Agency at the tehsil headquarters, Landi Kotal. Speaking on the occasion, MNA Allama Noorul Haq Qadri appreciated the efforts of local journalists and expressed the hope that they would highlight the problems of the area in an effective manner.

He urged the tribal journalists to depict true picture of events in the region which was in the focus of the world media due to the ongoing army operation against suspect terrorists and their supporters in the tribal belt.

He said this opening of a single-room press club was a good beginning for journalistic activities in Landi Kotal and assured the local newsmen of all his efforts for the establishment of the promised press club in Landi Kotal.

The MNA also announced a donation of a computer system for the new press club. President of the Tribal Union of Journalists Sailab Mehsood was also present on the occasion.
