KARACHI, Oct 2: Promising youngsters Imran Warsi and Asim Khan have been overlooked for the 18-member Pakistan hockey squad for the second leg of eight-match series against India.

While Imran Warsi failed to get a place in the squad, Mohammad Imran, who has been unimpressive for some time, was included as the third full-back.

Asim, who showed promise during a game against India, was sidelined to accommodate Imran Khan in the half-line.

Imran Warsi was fielded only in the second half of the opening game in Karachi, while Asim played only the second match in Quetta out of four home games.

Both inexperienced but talented junior team players made their international debut after getting calls for the series against India.

Imran Warsi, the major penalty corner striker and second highest goal-scorer of April's Junior Asia Cup with 12 goals, was also not called up for the senior team's pre-Olympic European tour, while Mohammad Imran was included by coach Roelant Oltmans along with Imran Khan.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has short listed two players from available lot of 20 since it could send only 18 players to India. However, sources say Imran Warsi and Asim Khan would be invited for Lahore's Champions Trophy training camp.
