KARACHI: Gang war claims one more life in Lyari

KARACHI, Oct 2: The gang war claimed another life in Lyari on Saturday.

Some armed men shot dead Shahnawaz, 24, in Rexarlane, Kalakot. The deceased was the nephew of Baboo Dakait, who was also shot dead a couple of months ago. Police suspected Rehman Dakait group behind the killing of Shahnawaz, who was wanted in several criminal cases.

Many people have been killed during the last few months in the gang war between Rehman Dakait and Arshad Pappoo groups in Lyari. The police had launched an operation in Lyari and Pak Colony areas in July to eliminate the gangs, but failed.

A couple of days back, three boys fell prey to the gang war and police remained playing a part of spectator. Lyari Town Police Officer Javed Baloch was transferred as punishment for failing to control the crime after the three recent killings.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead in a coach at Saeedabad. Police said that Siraj Khan, 25, was sitting in Ilyas Coach at its terminus in Saeedabad when some unidentified men approached there, shot at him and fled. He suffered a bullet wound and died on the spot.

Later, his body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy. Police believed that the killing was an outcome of personal enmity.

ACCIDENT: A young man was run over by a water tanker in Korangi. Zaman Town police said that Mohammad Farhan, 20, was waiting for a bus when a speeding water tanker ran over him and fled. The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy.
