ISLAMABAD, Sept 30: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has submitted an adjournment motion to the National Assembly Secretariat on the recent decision of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) to carry out load shedding throughout the country.

According to the parliamentary secretary of the ARD, Izhar Amrohvi, the motion has been filed under Rule 92 of the Rules and Procedure for Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 1992, and it has been signed by nine opposition members.

The motion, submitted on Thursday, states: "It has been reported in almost every newspaper that Wapda has decided load- shedding of electricity throughout the country for two to four hours daily.

The issue needs immediate discussion adjourning the normal business of the house." The motion has been moved by Raja Pervez Ashraf, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Fauzia Wahab, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Qurban Ali Shah, Sherry Rahman, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, Naheed Khan and Tehmina Daultana.
