Delay in wage board award implementation criticized

KARACHI, Sept 30: A joint meeting of the executive council of the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) and the All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation on Thursday reviewed the situation following the APNS petition in the Sindh High Court, and decided to defend the newspaper employees both inside and outside the court.

The meeting, according to a press release, expressed concern at what it called the delaying tactics of the APNS in implementing the wage board award.

The meeting expressed disappointment over the approach of the federal government towards the implementation despite the decisions of the federal cabinet and the resolutions passed by the National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies in this respect.

It appealed to the government to expedite the role of the implementation tribunal and also constitute provincial benches of the tribunal in all the four provinces for early disposal of cases of newspaper employees.
