Security beefed up at US, Saudi embassies

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Sept 30: Security has been stepped up around the heavily guarded American embassy as well as the Saudi embassy and its visa consulate in Islamabad following terrorist threat, a source said on Thursday.

The federal government has directed the law-enforcement agencies to beef up security around the two embassies and their installations, he said. The source said security had also been tightened at all US installations throughout the country.

However, it was not known immediately whether there had been a threat of suicide bombing. Meanwhile, as part of security arrangements for Afghan presidential polls, reserves of Punjab Constabulary will arrive in Islamabad on Friday.
