KARACHI: Hamida calls for allocating high priority to education


KARACHI, Sept 29: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro has called for allocating education a high priority agenda, as progress of any nation depended on sound educational base.

She was speaking at the All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest held at Defence Authority Degree College for Women here on Wednesday. Dr Hamida said that the youth had tremendous potential and talent which could be channelized and developed to the optimum by providing them quality and focused education.

The minister stated that Rs2.1 billion were allocated to education in the province while other sectors had much higher allocations. She said that it required political will and determination to allocate due priority to education.

Students from 11 different colleges and varsities participated in the bilingual contest. St. Joseph's Government College for Women won the over all declamation contest trophy. -APP
