KARACHI, Sept 29: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Shoaib Ahmed Bokhari, inspected the construction work of extension of 100 beds and other medical facilities at Government Qatar Hospital, Orangi Town, on Wednesday.

The work on this scheme, which was started on Feb 15, would be completed in three years at an estimated cost of Rs196.792 million. On the directive of Shoaib Bokhari, the work is being carried out on fast track basis. The minister was told that the ground- floor structure was in the finishing stage while work on the first and third floors was in progress.

The expansion scheme envisages the establishment of orthopedic, cardiac, kidney wards, general consultation, neuro- surgery, OPD, nursing school, hostel, auditorium and administration block.

The minister said that addition of these facilities would raise the status of this hospital to that of Civil Hospital and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. He warned that corruption and carelessness would not be tolerated and directed the project officers to carry out their duties honestly. -APP
