FAISALABAD, Sept 28: The Punjab government has turned down the move of Tehsil Municipal Administration (City) for the imposition of 121 taxes and 41 fees and asked it to withdraw them immediately.

TMA sources said here on Tuesday the TMA had sent a proposal with the approved budget document for the year 2004-05 to the Punjab government seeking formal approval to collect taxes and fees.

However, the government refused to allow it to impose new taxes as well as increase some of the previous fees and taxes. On receiving the refusal, the TMA presented fresh schedule of 31 taxes before the house for getting formal approval.
