PCB averts TV blackout

LAHORE, Sept 27: A threatened television blackout of the upcoming cricket tri-series was averted Monday after two feuding Dubai-based channels agreed to a compromise, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.

A PCB official said ARY and TEN Sports (Taj Entertainment Network) have agreed to arbitration by senior judge Munir Sheikh. Pakistan face Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in the one-day series starting on Thursday.

The arbitrator will decide about the television rights for future series. The Dubai-based channels last year jointly won the broadcasting rights for international cricket matches in Pakistan for US$43m for a period of five years. -AFP
