Vacuum after Nasrullah's death can't be filled: Nawaz

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: Paying homage to Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan on his death anniversary, Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said the vacuum created after the death of veteran statesman in national politics and particularly in the struggle for democracy is yet to be filled.

In a message issued from Jeddah and released by the party here on Monday, Mr Sharif said every democrat in the country deeply felt the loss of a selfless leader, who was a man of principles and a paragon of civility and statesmanship.

He said Nawabzada was respected even by his opponents because of decent manners. Mr Sharif said Nawabzada Nasrullah was always in the forefront of national movements to uphold the supremacy of national institutions and the movement that he launched five years ago against interference of the generals in politics was still alive in the shape of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD).

He said the death of Nawabzada Nasrullah had increased the responsibilities of the ARD leaders. They should take guidance from his character, and should work with greater determination for taking his mission to its logical end.

He said the PML-N would continue to support the ARD in its struggle for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution and supremacy of parliament.
