ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: Pakistan on Saturday expressed serious concerns over attempts by Jewish settlers to set ablaze the Al Aqsa Mosque and said the desecration would only deteriorate the situation.

"There should be no complicity in encouraging such attacks against Baitul Maqadas which hurt sensitivities of Muslims all over the world," a statement by Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan said.

He said desecration of the mosque or any intent to do so must be curbed and demonstrators should be effectively restrained.

Mr Khan said sacrilege of Al-Aqsa Mosque would only lead to further deterioration of the situation, which must be avoided at all costs.

Earlier on Friday, both houses of parliament, the National Assembly and the Senate, passed unanimous resolutions condemning the unethical attempt to set ablaze Al Aqsa mosque by Jewish settlers in connivance with the Israeli police.-APP
