ANP calls for end to Wana operation

KARACHI, Sept 25: Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan on Thursday called for an immediate end to the operation in Wana.

He also demanded release of all those arrested and lifting of economic sanctions against Pakhtoons.

The ANP chief, who arrived here on Friday, was speaking at a gathering of workers at Sherpao Colony on Saturday. ANP Sindh leaders Shahi Syed, Farooq Bangash, Amin Khattak, Sultan Mandokhel, Bashir Jan and Noorullah Achakzai were also present.

He said that solution to problems confronting the people was provincial autonomy which can ensure prosperity and progress of the people. He said that after 56 years of independence, Pakhtoons are still deprived of its blessings.

Calling upon the Pakhtoons to rally round the ANP, he said that rights could only be achieved if a joint struggle is launched.
