KARACHI, Sept 25: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has issued directive for launching exemplary action against the elements involved in street crimes without any discrimination and pressure.

The governor visited different areas for over two hours on Saturday and reviewed the situation particularly with reference to street crimes. Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, DG Rangers Maj Gen Javed Zia, IGP Kamal Shah, CCPO and other officials also accompanied the governor.

During his visit to North Nazimabad, the governor stopped at the TPO office and held a meeting with the officials concerned. He was briefed by the police and Rangers officials about the steps initiated on his directive against cases of mobile snatching, looting jewellry and other valuables from women attending wedding ceremonies, and other robberies.

Ishratul Ibad pointed out that the steps and measures, which were taken by law enforcing agencies against terrorists were considered most effective in the country. He said that the government and people duly expected similar effective action against street crimes, thefts and dacoities.

Also present on the occasion, North Nazimabad Town Nazim announced the provision of five motorcycles for area police and another 10 motorcycles for police patrolling on behalf of the owners of marriage halls, located in Hyderi, North Nazimabad, and Paharganj.

Ishratul Ibad appreciated the contribution and efforts made by the town nazim. He directed the TPO to review the efforts against crimes every week and point out the shortcomings in order to achieve better results. Besides, he asked the CCPO to review the efforts being made against street crime every fortnight.

On a suggestion made by the IGP, the governor directed the officials concerned that mobile companies should be requested to note down ESN numbers of stolen or snatched mobile phones in order to check these numbers while activating a mobile. Later, Mr Ibad reviewed the work of dualization of Karsaz Road.

Taking serious notice of garbage dumps, insanitation and accumulation of water on roads, he issued directives for immediate redressal measures. -APP
