GUJRANWALA, Sept 25: Traders are threatening to go on a shutterdown strike to protest the levy of professional tax by the excise and taxation department.

The Markazi Anjuman Tajran and other organizations of traders held a meeting in this regard here on Saturday, which was presided over by Sheikh Zulfikar Ali Cheeniwala.

The participants were of the view that they were already paying the general sales tax, income tax and property tax and the levy of professional tax was oppressive.

They demanded that notices issued to traders for payment of the new tax should be withdrawn forthwith.
