FAISALABAD: Canal closure plan

FAISALABAD, Sept 25: The irrigation department has chalked out a canal closure plan due to acute shortage of water.

According to an irrigation department press release issued on Saturday, 8,000 cusecs water would be released in Jhang Branch Canal from Sept 26 to October 2 for the tail-enders of Toba Tek Singh district.

It said the water received from Khanki head would be supplied to the Upper and Lower Gogera branches, Mananwala distributary, Sharkpura distributary, high level channel, Mianwali branch, Shahkot and Khurrianwala distributary, Brala branch and allied distributaries according to their share and capacity.

During this period, all the allied canals of Faisalabad and Hafizabad canal division, including Rakh branch and Nasarana, Sarangwala, Khai, Gagiana and Chiniot distributaries and Khanki division, Kot Nalka branch and Hafizabad city would remain closed.

BAN: The performance of film and stage actress Nadia Ali and Sabir Ali Goga has been banned for one month throughout the province due to violation of prescribed rules.

The home department issued the order banning their performance on the complaint of DCO.
