NA by-election on Nov 18

PESHAWAR, Sept 23: By-elections in the NA-35 Malakand constituency will be held on Nov 18. The seat which fell vacant with the death of Maulana Muhammad Inayatur Rehman belonging to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.

The Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, Justice (retd) Irshad Hassan Khan, issued an order for filling the vacant seat under Article 219 (b) and Article 224 (4) of the Constitution read with Section 108 of the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1976.

According to the notification, the returning officer concerned would issue a public notice inviting nomination papers on Sept 29. The nomination papers could be filed with the returning officer by the candidates from Sept 29 to Oct 2.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on Oct 4 and 5, whereas the last date for filing of appeals against the decisions of the returning officer will be Oct 8.

The last date for deciding the appeals by the tribunal will be Oct 12. The withdrawal of nomination papers by candidates could be made till Oct 14 and the final list of candidates will be published on Oct 15.
