PESHAWAR, Sept 22: The political authorities of South Waziristan Agency on Wednesday rejected the report of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association's fact-finding commission and termed it absolutely partial, biased and one-sided.
In a handout issued here by the Governor's secretariat (Fata), the administration stated that it had remained their utmost endeavour to solve the issue through peaceful means by holding jirgas with all tribes of South Waziristan and always considered use of force as the last resort.
It was unfortunate that the representatives of legal fraternity presented one side of the picture to the media and did not contact authorities concerned for the official point of view before making their report public, the handout said.
"As far as permission of visit to South Waziristan is concerned, their visit would have been facilitated had the commission members contacted officials in Fata Secretariat in Peshawar," it added.
The administration said that the officials had made it clear time and again that highly precise and targeted operations were conducted against miscreants and collateral damage was always avoided.
One such targeted operation was conducted on Sept 9 after confirmation of existence of terrorist training facility in the agency. The administration said that the authorities were in possession of a video film of the training camp and no religious congregation was taking place when it was targeted.
The administration claimed that innocent people had been killed due to firing of terrorists. "The miscreants coerce and blackmail locals to leave the area and shift to other places," it said.
