KASUR: Poor sanitation irks citizens

KASUR, Sept 21: Sanitary conditions in the city have reportedly exposed the tall claims of the tehsil municipal administration. In spite of the availability of 337 sanitary workers and a special squad having the facility of tractor-trollies , the TMA authorities have failed to provide proper services.

The officials of the department blame traders and general public for not cooperating with them. The worst affected localities are Sabzi Mandi chowk, Circular road, Railway road, Chandni chowk, Kot Maulvi Abdul Qadir, Adda Lalyani chowk, Kamal Shah chowk, Rukanpura, Bhasarpura, Niaznagar, Kot Murad Khan chowk and Khan Mahal Cinema chowk.

Requesting anonymity, a TMA officer told this correspondent here on Tuesday that most of the sanitary workers had been engaged by union council Nazims and councillors for private work. Whenever, the TMA tried to take any action against the workers, he said, the elected representatives defended them.

UNWHOLESOME MEAT: Unchecked sale of sick animals meat is posing heath hazards to citizens. Scores of people told this correspondent that a majority of the butchers were overcharging besides selling unwholesome meat. They have demanded of the high-ups to take immediate action in this regard.

RAPED: A girl was allegedly raped here on Tuesday at Illahabad village. Reports said 'S' had gone to the tuition centre located at a private school when Ahmed, husband of the school owner, raped her. Police have registered a case.

KILLED: A labourer was run over and killed by a speeding car here on Tuesday at Bhoey Aasal Morr, Chhanga Manga. Reports said Ramzan alias Kali was returning from a factory on a bicycle. Near Bhoey Aasal Morr, the vehicle coming from Pattoki hit him, killing Ramzan on the spot. The driver managed his escape. Police are looking into the matter.
