SAHIWAL, Sept 19: Four people were killed and 24 injured in a road accident here on Sunday night near Chak 132/9-L on the Lahore-Multan Road. Reports said a speeding Multan-bound bus (LHO-3855) overturned in a bid to save a donkey cart.

Amongst the dead only one body could be identified namely Asif Saeed of Bedian Road, Lahore. The injured were rushed to the DHQ Hospital. Grain Market police have registered a case.

PROTEST: Residents of Shadman Town protested against a union council Nazim when he came to get released an alleged robber at the police station here on Saturday night.

Liaquat Ali, a pesticide company salesman, was on his way home by motorcycle (SLJ-7677) on Saturday night when three armed robbers intercepted him and deprived him of Rs15,000.

The salesman raised an alarm when the robbers tried to escape from the scene. Responding immediately, the people chased the robbers and caught hold one of them. Later, they took the bandit to the police station for getting a case registered against him.

In the meanwhile, UC Nazim Ali Azhar Goga reached the police station to get released accused Haidar Ali. The people present there protested against the UC Nazim. They also raised slogans against him. However, police have registered a case against Haidar Ali, his accomplices Hakim Nargana and Shahab under Section 392 PPC.

SCHEME: The Punjab Government Service Housing Foundation has acquired land in 14 districts to construct houses for the shelter less government employees. The land has been acquired in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Kasur, Pakpattan, Rajanpur and Lodhran districts.

For this purpose, around 92 acres of land has already been acquired on Farid Town Road, in Sahiwal. This was disclosed by PGSH managing director Chaudhry Riaz Ahmed here in the presence of other officers including Sahiwal DCO Mehr Muhammad Nawaz.
