HARIPUR, Sept 19: Alkhair University Islamabad's Rector Raja Sheeraz Kiyani was shot dead near village Pind Muneem on the Khanpur Road on Saturday afternoon.

When the car carrying the alleged killers sped away and reached near village Mang, some 4km from here on Khanpur Road, it rammed into a Suzuki pick-up coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the death of two persons.

Seven others sustained injuries in the accident. Khanpur police said that Mr Kiyani, who was later identified as Alkhair University's rector, was on his way to Abbottabad from Islamabad by his car (IDK 4503) when three persons travelling in another car (IDG 748) opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.

The victim's driver Raja Irshad also suffered bullet injuries. He was shifted to a hospital by the area people. In their hurry to flee the scene, the alleged assassins drove their car rashly and collided it head-on with a Suzuki coming from Haripur.
