KARACHI, Sept 18: The Sindh Council of the Pakistan Peoples Party on Saturday deliberated on matters pertaining to another by-elections in NA-229, the seat which Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz gave up after a landslide victory there.

Presided by the party's provincial president, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, vowed to continue struggle for the supremacy of the 1973 constitution and against rising unemployment, poverty and a sense of alienation due to denial of rights and resources.

He was of the view that by raising the bogey of uniform, the rulers had made the institution of the armed forces controversial.

Mr Shah said that when ministers were so much obsessed with Gen Pervez Musharraf's uniform and didn't feel secure with the 'khaki umbrella', how could they even think of the problems of people.

He said even the prime minister was not talking much of the problems being faced by the people, and he too thought that Pakistan could only be saved by the uniform.

The Sindh Council also warned the government of the dire consequences if it pursued with the Kalabagh Dam and greater Thal Canal projects.
