PPP leader deplores operation in Balochistan

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 18: Member of the Pakistan People's Party, Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur has condemned the operation in Wana and Balochistan and demanded its immediate halt.

The member of the central executive committee, said that the policy to pit army against the people would bring negative results for the country and its integrity and pledged that PPP would not allow the regime's action to push the army and the people at each other, he said in a statement on Saturday.

Mr Talpur said that the use of military power against bordering areas would further encourage the terrorists who might get sympathies of the people by dodging the state power and diverting it to innocent people.

He said the regime blocked the debate on Wana operation in the National Assembly to 'hide' its failure in Wana and Balochistan. He said the people of Wana and Balochistan were patriotic people and entire Pakistani nation was against mounting any action against them.

Mr Talpur said the PPP was against terrorism but it would never accept any action against people of Wana and Balochistan in the name of terrorism.

He said the party would again bring the issues of Wana and Balochistan to the National Assembly as it was the proper forum to discuss such issues but the government was trying to undermine its sovereignty.
