NEW DELHI, Sept 16: Indian Army Chief Gen N.C. Vij said on Thursday that there had been "no let-up in Pakistan's bid to push terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir" but fencing and stepped-up vigil by Indian troops had reduced infiltration to a large extent.
"Border fencing, installation of modern gadgets and stepped-up vigilance has helped in preventing infiltration from across the border appreciably even as there has been no let up from Pakistan in pushing terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir," Gen Vij told reporters in Srinagar.
The claim was believed to be a signal that it would be part of the talking points for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when he meets President Gen Pervez Musharraf in New York next week.
