KARACHI, Sept 16: A representative meeting of different parties has demanded immediate cessation to the ongoing army operation in the tribal areas, holding of talks with elders of the eight tribal areas and finding of a solution to the problem through the Jirga.

This demand was made in a resolution adopted at the meeting held under the auspices of the Waziristan Ittehad Karachi at Sohrab Goth on Thursday with its President, Rohedad Khan, in the chair.

Speakers at the meeting included Shahi Syed of the ANP, Zain Ansari of the ARD, Mir Ismail Brohi of the PPP, Shahid Advocate of Mohmand Agency, Haji Muhammad Afzal of Bajaur Agency, Gulabdin Afridi of Khyber Agency, and Malik Inayat of Kurram Agency.

The resolution said if there were foreigners in the tribal areas, they should be expelled and the innocent oppressed people particularly women and children spared during the operation, alleging that missiles and gunfire often missed their targets, and resulted in the deaths of innocent people.
