GUJRANWALA, Sept 16: Four executive council members of the local chamber of commerce and industry were elected unopposed in the annual elections here on Thursday.

As many as seven aspirants filed their nomination papers for the slot of executive council members. While three of them - Wakil Saeed, Faisal Aslam and Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem - had withdrawn their papers.

The election commissioner declared Akhlaq Ahmad Butt, Qazi Muhammad Arshad, Rana Shehzad Hafeez and Muhammad Asim Bajwa elected unopposed members of the council. The newly-elected members thanked their colleagues for withdrawing nomination papers and assured the chamber that they would extend their cooperation to resolve the problems of industrialists and traders.
