KARACHI: DCET students protest

KARACHI, Sept 15: Students of the Dawood College of Engineering and Technology on Wednesday in a protest demonstration reproved their college principal for using abusive language against college students especially the female students.

Talking to newsmen after holding another protest demo at the Karachi Press Club for restoration of DCET's accreditation by the Pakistan Engineering Council, college students said their principal used offensive language against female students on Wednesday besides warning them of serious consequences.

"Today, Mr Saleem Chaudhry came to the girls common room and used insulting language against us (female students) for attending yesterday's protest demo at the KPC, and warned us of serious consequences," female students, taking part in the demo, alleged.

Students said that immediately after the incident, they boycotted their classes and staged a sit-in in front of the college building, but were dispersed by the police and Rangers, who resorted to using baton charge against them.

The college students also announced to observe black-day at the college on Thursday against the immoral attitude of the college principal. Demanding restoration of the college's accreditation by the PEC, the DCET students also called upon the federal education minister to immediately remove the college principal. -PPI
