PML in direct fight with PML-N in by-polls
TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 14: The PML and the Nawaz League are in straight fight for the office of a Gojra union council Naib Nazim by-election scheduled to be held on Sept 16.
MNA Amjad Warriach is backing Sheikh Shafiq while his opponent Muhammad Zaman is supported by former MNA M. Hamza. Mr Shafiq also has the support of Gojra tehsil Nazim Khalid Javed and MPA Bilal Asghar.
On the other hand, Mr Zaman is enjoying the support of many heavyweights. They are district Nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq, Naib Nazim Haji Ghulam Rabbani, Gojra PML-N MPA Azhar Nadeem Gujjar, district PPP president and former MNA Haji Ishaq and former MPA Ensanul Haq.
Both the groups claim that position of their candidates is strong. Both the candidates allege each other of misusing tehsil council and district council funds. However, in their tussle, development schemes in the area are being completed at a very fast pace. The seat was vacated when a no-confidence motion was passed against Naib Nazim Dr Muhammad Afzal.
