HARIPUR: Media workshop in Haripur

HARIPUR, Sept 14: A two-day workshop on capacity building of district correspondents of Hazara Division concluded here on Monday evening at the Bara Gali summer campus of Peshawar University.

The workshop was organized by the department of journalism and mass communication, in collaboration with a German NGO Fried rich Ebert Stiftung and Havelian Press Club and participated by correspondents of local, regional, national dailies and final year students of journalism.

The participants were imparted training on news writing techniques, professional and moral obligations of a reporter, development reporting, social sector reporting, ethics in journalism, inter & intra press club relations by Dr Shahjehan Syed, Dr Altafullah Khan, Prof Faizullah Jan and Prof Naeem Gul.

Dr Shahjehan Syed, Chairman of Journalism Department later distributed certificates among the participants and said that Peshawar University was also planning to hold a two-week intensive training on broadcasting for district correspondents.

ACCIDENT: A villager was killed when a speeding wagon ran over him near village Ghairian, about 4km from here, on the G.T. Road on Tuesday. Police said Gul Juma of village Pind Jamal Khan was crossing the road when an Abbottabad-bound wagon (IDT 310) ran over him, killing him on the spot.
