By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari on Monday withdrew his appeal from the Supreme Court against his conviction in the Pakistan Steel Mills reference.

Dr Babar Awan, counsel of Mr Zardari, filed an application before a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Faqir Khokhar and Justice Sardar to withdraw the appeal after his acquittal from the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court.

The high court on last Thursday had set aside his conviction awarded by a Rawalpindi Accountability Court to undergo rigorous imprisonment of seven years with a fine of Rs40 million.
