Published September 12, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Sept 11: Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Jatoi has taken serious notice of Friday's electricity breakdown in Karachi and appointed a federal inspector electricity to investigate the incident.

The inquiry officer has been asked to investigate the matter and fix responsibility and submit his report to the minister within 15 days.

The minister said a severe action would be taken against those responsible for the breakdown due to which commercial and business activities remained suspended for considerable time.

The minister also directed the KESC authorities to streamline and improve its transmission system to avert any inconvenience to the people in future.

It may be mentioned that the main transmission line of the KESC from the Bin Qasim power station broke down on Friday evening, suspending power supply to most parts of the city.
