KHAIRPUR: No-trust move against naib nazim passed

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, Sept 11: A no-confidence motion was adopted by the Jilani Union Council against Naib Nazim Dilawar Hussain Shaikh here on Saturday.

Out of 19 members, 15 attended the meeting. Eleven members favoured the resolution while four members did not take part in the voting.

Nazim Syed Shahzad Shah Jilani presided over the session.

WATER SHORTAGE: Scores of farmers held a demonstration outside the press club here on Friday to protest against the water shortage in the Mehar Minor and the Sanhro Wah of the Kot Diji area.

They told journalists that earlier, they had complained about water shortage to the irrigation officials concerned but to no avail.

They said that due to persistent water shortage for several years, most of their land had remained uncultivated and they were irrigating some of it through tube-wells for which they had to bear heavy expenses.

They demanded provision of water at the tail-end of the channels.
